The Comanche Chief is a weekly newspaper serving Comanche county, Texas. First established in 1873, it is the oldest business still operating in the west central Texas town of Comanche. Owned and operated now for three generations by the Wilkerson family it is a main stay of the community.

The newspaper brings you news of local events, people and places, as well as sports and school information.

77th County Livestock Show complete success
The 77th annual Comanche County Junior Livestock Show held here Saturday and Monday was a successful show with 174 county youth exhibiting 319 animals. A large crowd was on hand for the show. Complete results of the show appear in this week's issue of the Chief.
Jeryl Brixey resigns as AD/head football coach
Comanche ISD Athletic Director and head football coach Jeryl Brixey has resigned effective January 19.
In a special called meeting on Monday the Comanche School Board voted unanimously to accept a separation agreement between Brixey and Comanche ISD. Sheila Stephens made the motion, it was seconded by Jim Turner. Rachael Hilliard and Frazier Clark were absent from the meeting.

Police investigate gunshot
The City of Comanche Police Department is currently investigating a shot fired on Thursday, January 12. A single shot traveled through a bedroom window at 1115 North Lane.
No one was injured but the bullet almost struck one resident. Police are uncertain whether the shot came from a passing vehicle or from someone on foot. The bullet came from a small caliber rifle.

City’s Sales Tax Rebates increase
The City of Comanche opened the new year with a 11.57% increase in sales tax rebates over the previous January. The city received $45,482.34 compared to $40,764.32.
