The Comanche Chief is a weekly newspaper serving Comanche county, Texas. First established in 1873, it is the oldest business still operating in the west central Texas town of Comanche. Owned and operated now for three generations by the Wilkerson family it is a main stay of the community.

The newspaper brings you news of local events, people and places, as well as sports and school information.

Nine grand champions named at Comanche ISD Project Show
Nine exhibitors took home grand champion honors last Saturday at the Comanche FFA sponsored, annual Comanche ISD Project Show, in the Comanche County Livestock Barn. A good crowd was on hand to see approximately 65 4-H and FFA members exhibiting over 118 livestock projects. Mr. Chris Beard of Albany, Texas judged the entries including Swine, Sheep, Goats, Cattle, and Horses.
The Project Show opened with the breeding swine show and Cash Mankin taking grand champion honors with his breeding Hampshire among the 6 breeding swine. Reserve grand champion honors went to Jeffery Abbey with his Hampshire entry.
The breeding meat goats followed with Jacey Biggs taking grand champion and reserve grand champion honors among the six entries.

GRAND CHAMPION MARKET STEER: Taylor Stephens of the Comanche FFA captured grand champion honors among the 15 market steers with her champion exotic entry.
GRAND CHAMPION DAIRY HEIFER: Jeff Koster of the Comanche 4-H Club won grand champion honors among the 12 dairy heifers with his Class 4 winning heifer.
GRAND CHAMPION MARKET GOAT: Sage Cupps of the Comanche Jr. FFA won grand champion honors among the 15 meat goat entries with her Class 3 winning entry. Also pictured is Payton Williams, holding ribbon.
GRAND CHAMPION MARKET SWINE: Wyatt Mankin of the Comanche Junior FFA won grand champion honors among the 28 market swine with his champion Hampshire.
GRAND CHAMPION HORSE: Crystal Tomlinson of the Comanche County 4H Club won grand champion honors among the 28 horse entries with her champion mare.
GRAND CHAMPION BREEDING HEIFER: Caleb Ward of the Comanche FFA won grand champion honors among the breeding beef with his champion exotic heifer. Also pictured is his mother, Kerri Ward.
RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION STEER: Steven Abbey of the Comanche FFA won reserve grand champion honors among the 15 market steers with his reserve champion exotic entry.
RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION HEIFER: Devon Shackelford of the Comanche FFA won reserve grand champion honors among the breeding beef heifers with her champion British heifer.
RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION BREEDING SWINE: Jeffrey Abbey of the Comanche Junior FFA took reserve grand honors among the breeding swine with his reserve champion Hampshire gilt
