BILBREY
R. B. Bilbrey, age 80, of Blanket, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center, with his son at his side.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Benny M. Allcorn officiating. Interment followed at Rock Church Cemetery in Blanket. Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.
R. B. Bilbrey was born on July 22, 1931 in Blanket, Texas to Ruben and Cora Stewart Bilbrey. He was raised in Blanket and graduated from Blanket High School. He also attended Howard Payne for cabinet making at Griffin Cabinets. Bilbrey served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was decorated for his service with the Korean service medal and Vietnam Campaign medal, and two National Defense Service medals. He married Belinda Chamblis in Stephenville on October 9, 1979. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2011. On Valentine’s Day he went to be with her again.
R. B. was a member of Blanket First Baptist Church, living most of his life in, or near, Blanket. His interests where in going to auctions in Rising Star and finding antiques with his wife. He had a love for music and was in a band for awhile. Besides his son Earl, R. B. had an extended family at CARE nursing Home, he loved everyone he came in touch with and tried to help make them happy. He was an avid fisherman and looked forward to Friday nights eating catfish at Studebakers. Bilbrey was also a member of the VFW.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his only son, Earl Bilbrey and his fiancé Shaina of Comanche, who was devoted to his mother and father; brother, Norman Bilbrey and his wife Glenda of Keller; cousin, JM Robinson and his wife Freda; many nieces and nephews; and a special dog, Tinkerbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Cora Bilbrey, and his beloved wife, Belinda.
