2022 Comanche County Junior Livestock Show

It is time for the Comanche County Junior Livestock Show. We need to do all we can to encourage young people to be involved with agriculture, so be sure to come out and support the youth that will be showing their animals. The CCLA is committed to making sure the local youth can show at our local county show, even during blizzards and pandemics. To decrease the number of folks in the barn at a time, the group has worked to once again spread-out the schedule so not too many events are happening at the same time. This year the show will run from Saturday January 8th until Monday, January 10th with the Premium Sale being held on Wednesday evening, January 12th at the Comanche High School Commons.

The show will begin Saturday morning with check-in of all breeding and market sheep and goats from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. Ag Mechanic projects check in will be from 8:00 AM until 8:30 AM. The ag mechanics show will start at 9:00 AM and at 10:00 AM we will proceed in the following order: breeding sheep, market lambs, breeding meat goats, market goats. Horse check-in will be from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM on Saturday afternoon. Then horse show will start at 2:30 PM.

On Sunday January 9th, check-in for beef heifers and market steers will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Sunday’s show will start at 11:30 AM with beef heifers followed by market steers. We will also have Church Service at 10:00 AM for those that would like to attend. Check-in for breeding and market swine will be from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.

Monday at 9:00 AM, we will start with breeding swine and then move to market swine immediately following the breeding classes. We will also have photography contest results available for viewing from January 5th through 12th at Spirit of Texas Bank.

There will be a catfish supper catered by Diamond R Store & Cafe for all buyers on Wednesday, January 12th at 5:30 PM at the Comanche High School Commons area (all others may purchase a plate for $15.00). Following supper, the Premium Sale will begin at 6:30 PM, also at the Comanche High School Commons area.

Hopefully, the weather will be a lot better than last year, but who knows. Regardless, this is a good opportunity to come out and see some excellent livestock and kids. These youth will be the future of agriculture and Comanche County, be sure to come out and support them.
