Comanche ISD

We have been working hard at Comanche ISD to plan the new school year to ensure student and staff safety while adhering to the mandates set forth by the Texas Education Agency, Governor Abbott, and the UIL.  As this is a very fluid situation, we have made some changes to our back to school plan and safety protocols and we want to share those with you. Please keep in mind that as mandates change or are added, this plan is also subject to change. We will, however, continue to keep you informed of those changes if they should occur. Please contact your campus principal with any questions you might have.

  • Our calendar has changed in order to give our staff more time to prepare to bring our students back safely. The first day of school will now be Tuesday, August 18 at CHS, JJH, Comanche Elem., and Head Start. The Early Head Start Program will begin on  Tuesday, August 11.

  • All classes will be delivered at home via virtual instruction through September 4. However, some special populations will attend school on campus during this time to comply with federal guidelines. Campus principals will notify those students in special populations.

  • Technology devices will be checked out to all students during registration on August 10-14. (We will provide more specific details regarding registration at a later date).

  • After the first three weeks of at-home virtual instruction, parents will have to choose between an at-home virtual or face to face instructional model for each of their children. Parents must make this choice by August 14. Please go to to fill out a separate form for each of your children with your choice of instructional model.

  • Students who choose the face-to-face on campus instructional model will return to campus on September 8.

  • Students who opt to participate in the at-home virtual instructional model will have to commit to remaining on the model until the first grading period comes to an end on September 18.

  • Students engaged in the at-home virtual instructional model must show instructional progress, connect with teachers, or submit assignments daily. All district grading policies, as well as attendance and credit requirements will apply.

  • More detailed information regarding safety protocols and instructional models are available in the Back to School Plan on the Comanche ISD website at
