Each year, the UT Dallas community comes together to celebrate sustainability and environmental practices through interactive and educational events and programs during Earth Week. With the assistance of valued partners, Earth Week is brought to UT Dallas by the Office of Student Volunteerism and the Office of Sustainability.

Celebrate Earth Day with music, free pollinator-inspired food, and good clean, green fun with various campus and community partners.

Sustainability in Research Panel Discussion: Leveraging Big Data, Machine Learning, GIS, and Advanced Data Visualization for Sustainability

2-3 p.m., SSA Auditorium

Dr. David Lary (Physics), Dr. May Yuan (EPPS), and Dr. Marjory Zeilke (ATEC) envision a more sustainable future made possible through interdisciplinary collaboration. Lary brings expertise in big data and machine learning in order to improve environmental sensing. Yuan brings expertise in GIS to provide geographic context to data. Zielke brings expertise in advanced data visualization to better communicate technical information. With their interdisciplinary collaboration, they hope utilize to UT Dallas campus as a living laboratory to pioneer new ways to get quality environmental information to decision makers and the public. Registration is required for this event.

Help maintain UTD’s hotspot for Monarch Butterflies by planting, sowing seeds, and weeding the waystation.

BioBlitz - Register Now

11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monarch Waystation

Join the Office of Sustainability and local nature experts as they work to photograph as many plant, bird and insect species as possible at the Waystation! All species will be identified using the iNaturalist app, and will be used for The Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) reporting. Pizza will be provided for volunteers while supplies last. Volunteers can either register to attend as an addition to Butterfly Flutterby, or contact Gary Cocke for more information.

Farm to Fork / Community Kitchen

Join us at Dining Hall West as we highlight two local farmers that we source produce from to feed our UTD community! Missed our Pop Up Farmers’ Market on Thursday and didn’t get a chance to taste the demo item by Chef Gene? No problem! A mini pop up station, Community Kitchen, will feature the this item so you won’t miss out!
