In just one week, Operation Christmas Child Drop-Off Locations will open to receive shoebox gifts—lovingly packed with toys and other items—from area donors during National Collection Week Nov. 16-23.

Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, seeks to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and, together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 178 million gift-filled shoe boxes to children in more than 160 countries and territories.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of the international relief organization Samaritan’s Purse. We are committed to reaching out to millions’ of needy children with our distinctive shoebox gifts. Individuals, groups, churches, and corporations partner with operation Christmas Child to fill shoeboxes with small gifts which are hand-delivered to children all over the world suffering from war, poverty, famine, disease, and natural disaster.

There is a new drop-off location at First Baptist Church in Comanche, and we wanted to give you the opportunity to participate with us this year. A brochure with more information about Operation Christmas Child and packing shoeboxes is enclosed. It includes ideas for the best kinds of gifts to be included and things not to be included.

If you would like more brochures, DVD’s, or other materials to promote this project in your church, they can be ordered at www.samaritanspurse.org under What We Do and Operation Christmas Child in the Order Free Materials. This year you can go to Build a Box online and create and pack a box without leaving your house. Boxes are also available at Hobby Lobby in Brownwood. I should have some extra boxes available at the church.

If you decide to participate, the drop-off location is at the First Baptist Church Youth Building at 408 N. Lane, north of the church Gym. The hours are listed below.
