Texas State Senator Dr. Dawn Buckingham was well received at her last Wednesday Town Hall Meeting with a near-full room full of interested citizens. She began her presentation with, “Of all the towns we visit, Comanche has the best Christmas decorations!” Representing a very large district, she visits many, many cities. She also said that small towns were dear to her heart and they are a priority with her, trying to help with small town challenges. Informing city folks about the importance of Texas land owners and their unique connection to the land is another challenge. She spoke on education in Texas and stated she was “not big on standardized tests.” Questions from the audience touched on taxes, the need for more state funding, county flood damage, licensing for plumbers, and the border crisis. She said, in regards to the border with Mexico, that until we have complete operational control, it is not going to get better.
