The Texas Football magazine editors have picked the Comanche Indians to finish second in the district behind the Jacksboro Tigers. They have picked the Dublin Lions to finish third.

The pre-season Offensive MVP is Cy Wing, quarterback from Dublin. He looks to add up some big passing numbers with their high flying offense. The pre-season Defensive MVP is Caleb Helm, linebacker from Jackboro.

Comanche Indians Head Coach Stephen Hermesmeyer lost many starters with a senior heavy team last year. Only three starters on offensive and defense return from last year’s 9-4 regional semifinalist team. But 11 lettermen are returning.

The Texas Football magazine editors player to watch for Comanche are; Jeron Conine, OL/DL, Ricardo Sanchez, RB/LB, Braxton Patterson, RB/LB, Ryan Stephens, TE/DE, Gaven Cottrell, OL, Bryce Hermesmeyer, ATH, Logan Wilkerson, RB/LB, and RJ Pepper, RB/LB.

The Indians will rely on youth in 2019 to carry the weight. Conine and Cottrell are outstanding in the trenches on both sides of the line and give the Indians a great base to build around. Look for Sanchez and Patterson to split time in the Wing-T offense, and the younger Hermesmeyer could take over at quarterback. Sanchez is also outstanding weapon in the kicking game.
