Luckily for the City of Comanche, no gas pump skimming has occurred, even though there have been instances of it in both Brownwood and Stephenville.

According to the Stephenville Police Department, on June 6, the Department received a report from the CEFCO gas station on the South Loop that a gas pump technician has located three skimming devices on three separate pumps.

The skimmers were removed and the police are asking the public to notify them if they suspect they are a victim of fraudulent charges on their credit cards or debit cards.

There are ways you can protect your card information when filling up your vehicle.

1. If possible, pay inside.

2. Use pumps that can be seen by the clerk.

3. Get a receipt.

4. Use a credit card instead of a debit card if possible.

5. Wiggle card and manipulate the card reader. It is not secure, tell the clerk.

6. Look to see if there is a seal and if it is broken, tell the clerk.
