Prior to the September 13, 2019 Commissioners Court Meeting Sheriff Jeff Lambert submitted a letter of resignation as the Sheriff of Comanche County to the County Judge on September 10, 2019. The resignation is to be effective October 31, 2019.

Sheriff Lambert stated, “It has been an honor to serve this county for the past 22 plus years, both as a deputy and your Sheriff. It has been my privilege to work so closely with all of you involved with the operation of our great County. It is with sadness and also with great anticipation that I look forward to the future for all of us.”

​ The Court thanked Sheriff Lambert for his service and dedication to Comanche County over the past 22 years.

​Commissioners Underwood and Johnson made the motion and second to regretfully accept the resignation of Jeff Lambert as Sheriff of Comanche County effective October 31, 2019. All approved. Motion carried.

​Pursuant to the Local Government Code Section 87.041 a vacancy in the office of Sheriff occurs on the date the resignation is accepted. The vacancy is filled by Commissioners’ Court.

​Commissioners Underwood and Gillette made the motion and second to appoint Chief Deputy Chris Pounds to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff Lambert beginning November 1, 2019. All approved. Motion carried.
