Democrats of Comanche County Club met August 12th at First National Bank in DeLeon. President Thompson called the meeting to order. Nancy Reynolds read the minutes of the July meeting and Julie Sanders gave the Treasurer’s report.

Volunteers at the Golden Saturday event in DeLeon reported they had a good day. Suzann Thompson displayed a beautiful handmade quilt with the message, ‘Register to Vote’, along with our new banner.

Program for the September meeting will be biographies of three of the Democratic presidential candidates and the October program will be speaker, David Currie, chair of the TXDems Rural Caucus.

Hosting a qualified speaker to address Voting Rights, Voter Suppression and Gerrymandering is planned for January 2020.

President Thompson introduced our speaker, Pamela Cleveland of the Texas Democratic Convention. She gave a lively and energetic talk educating attendees on the process of how citizens could be involved in supporting a political party. She went step by step from the local precincts to the State Conventions encouraging all to work to promote local concerns.

Next scheduled meeting is September 9th in DeLeon.
