This week has been an exciting time for the Comanche Youth Council and City of Comanche as a 10 team state tournament kicked off Sunday at the Comanche youth ball fields on Comanche Trail Rd.

An opening ceremony was held at the ball fields for the 2019 12U Tight Base State Tournament for baseball. The teams include our very own 12U Comanche Indians, De Leon Stixx, 12U Hamilton Bulldogs, Dublin Rangers, Sweetwater Spartans, Colorado City Rangers, Kileen Rangers, Kileen Astros and finally from seven hours away near the Big Bend area, the Presidio Yankees.

During the ceremony the teams were announced followed by a prayer and the national anthem. Then hot dogs were served and a home run derby was held. Andrew Coan from the Deleon Stixx won the derby. Last the Comanche City Pool graciously stayed open late until 9:00 p.m. for the players and families to enjoy and cool off.

The championship game will be held this Friday, July 19. Our 12U Indians won on Tuesday morning and evening keeping their hopes of a championship still alive.

The concessions at the ball park have been filled daily with players and families getting some great treats. This will be a big benefit for the Comanche Youth Council and their future projects.

This is also a great opportunity to show visitors how great Comanche is. So if you see any youth ball players and their families say hello and give them a warm welcome to Comanche
