“Just when I think the birds were going to get my last fruit of the season, we get a welcomed first frost this past Saturday morning. The frost will trigger my persimmons to go ahead and ripen. The birds have been sampling them and if the warmer weather keeps it up all will be lost to them. The frost will have other benefits also, grass will slow its growth, some of the pesky mosquitoes that have been hanging around searching for a meal will be gone and the colder weather will usher in those fall colors we enjoy seeing this time of year.” From Eddy Parker
