The Comanche Indians varsity squad get thing kicked off this Friday night as they face the Eastland Mavericks here in Comanche at Indians Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

Eastland is bringing back most of their squad from last year including their highly skilled positions at QB, RB and WR. Their quarterback, Behren Morton is a four star recruit and has had offers from Southern California, Texas Tech and Texas A&M to play football.

Coach Hermesmeyer said the kids are excited to start the season against some quality opponents.

According to the Harris Ratting System Eastland is a seven point favorite. Eastland like to spread the ball around on offense and stack the line of scrimmage on defense

Comanche has a tough non district schedule including the 2A defending state champions, Mason Punchers. So the Indians should be prepared when district starts as they look to win a district championship for the fourth straight year.

Comanche scrimmaged against Bangs last Thursday. Bangs broke a lot of big plays during the scrimmage but Coach Hermesmeyer said that was because of misalignments on defense. He went on to say we are a young team and the boys are learning and getting better everyday.

There were many bright spots during the scrimmage and the Indians held Bangs scoreless during the live quarter.

A bright spot in the junior varsity game occurred when quarterback Miguel Martinez hit Alexzander Moore for a 60 yard touchdown.
