“Kid’s Day at the Old Museum”

The Comanche County Historical Society & Museum, Inc. is pleased to announce the second annual ‘Kid’s Day at the Old Museum!’ to be held Saturday, August 10th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is located west of Bayer Motor Company at 402 Moorman Rd.

This year the first 40 kids will receive a free t-shirt (kid sizes only)—just in time for back to school. The museum will have demonstrations of interesting devices from bye-gone days. You will see a lady making doll clothes on a treadle sewing machine, a pioneer woman using a wringer machine to clean laundry, a gentleman using an old-fashioned watermelon slicing machine! And you will be entertained by a pump organ concert. For those of you who don’t know, none of these devices use electricity. It will be great fun!

We will also offer a scavenger hunt for kid/adult teams to help them discover some of the great treasures that we have at the museum.

Come a little early to register and look around. Admission is by donation. Please support your local County Museum and take a break from the heat. We have so much to share with all of you – both the young and those ‘of a certain age that are young at heart’.
