Enjoying the drive-up FM 2247 north of Comanche I soon reached the Copperas Bend Wedding and Event Venue. I was greeted by a couple of basset hounds which being a hound lover myself was music to my ears. Soon Melissa Otwell ushered me to the front of their indoor event center which has a classic red barn look.

Melissa and her husband Derek started the Copperas Bend Venue process in 2017 and are now ready to open it up for guests.

Derek grew up in De Leon and graduated from De Leon High School. He met his wife Melissa while at college at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. They moved around the DFW metroplex and Benton, Arkansas where Melissa is from before deciding to settle in Comanche County on Derek’s great uncle Corbitt Otwell’s land.

They picked a beautiful spot for the venue on top of a hill looking down on the countryside.

They both love being in the country and the location is almost directly in the middle between Comanche and De Leon, so they enjoy going back and forth between the two towns.

Melissa is a stay at home mom and since she loves decorating and planning parties, they decided to open this venue center.

The venue center has options for both indoor and outdoor parties from weddings to kids’ events and anything in between. They can handle big and small events as well.

The indoor venue has big screen TV’s and a sound system for work presentations and anything else.

The Copperas Bend Venue is located at 5300 HWY 2247, De Leon, Texas. You can contact Melissa from their website at copperasbend.com or their Facebook page @copperasbend or by phone at 972-965-9338.
