From Comanche County Historical Museum

On Saturday, September 12, the Comanche County Historical Museum will begin the celebration of Quanah Parker Day with the City of Comanche Mayor, Mary Boyd signing a proclamation at 10:00 a.m.

In 2019 Texas Governor Greg Abbott designated the second Saturday in September as Quanah Parker Day. Quanah Parker (1850-1911), son of Peta Nocona and Cynthia Ann Parker, was the last Comanche War Chief.

Quanah Parker artifacts will be on exhibit at the Museum with Lee White, a Native American Indian, present to share information related to the artifacts. Other special guests are expected to participate.

The Comanche County Historical Museum located at 402 Moorman Rd, Comanche, TX invites all to attend this special day.

The Museum is observing COVID-19 safety precautions by using masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing.
