It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jenna Leah Johnston on September 25, 2020, at the age of 36. She is a beloved mother, daughter, aunt, and friend. Arrangements to celebrate her life have been entrusted to Heartland Funeral & Cremation Services where the family will, at a distance because of COVID19, greet friends 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. Monday October 5, 2020. Following the visitation period, Leah’s life will be celebrated in a Memorial Service with Bro. Steven Schulte officiating. Jenna Leah was born June 9, 1984, in Dublin, TX, to Randy Harlan Johnston and Carolyn Gill Colcleasure. Leah attended school in Comanche, graduating from Comanche High School Class 2002. She graduated Ranger College Vocational Nursing Program in 2007, Tarleton State University with Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Master of Science Management and Leadership degree in 2012. Leah continued her education at Texas State Technical College graduating Chemical Dependency Counseling in October 0f 2017 with Board of Regents Honors. She was employed at Med Mark Treatment Center in Waco TX.
Leah had many and various interests and was active in these projects: Adopt-a-highway program in Memory of Madge and Gene Johnston. She was active in the Salvation Army Community Kitchen in Waco, TX as a volunteer for evening meals. Leah was a member of the Texas Association of Sports Officials Abilene chapter and recently joined the Waco Chapter where she was a Referee of volleyball, basketball, and softball. Leah really enjoyed sports having played basketball and running track in high school. She enjoyed gardening and outside yard work.
Leah will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Jackie Love Keith and Jamie Lyn Vassar; parents, Carolyn and Ronny Colcleasure of Comanche and Randy and Goldie Johnston of Abilene, TX; sisters, Jenna K Currin and husband Matthew of Oxford, NC, Lisa Welch and husband Warren of Comanche, TX, Lori McClure of Arlington, TX, Kristina Munoz of Waco, TX; brother, Evan Johnston of De Leon, TX; grandmother, Jean Y. Gill of Oxford, NC; uncles and aunts, Thomas Woody Gill, Jr. and wife Zana, Ray Johnston and wife Linda, Leon Johnston and wife Karen, Tommy Johnston and wife Dorothy, LaGene Shoemaker; cousins, Jacey Wood, Allen Almer, Kelly Gibson, April Knudson, Sam Johnston, Brit Johnston, and Jed Johnston. Leah was preceded in death by grandfather, Thomas Woody Gill, Sr., brother, Jeremy Johnston; grandparents, Gene and Madge Johnston.
