Washington, D.C. — Wednesday, Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released the following statement after voting against the Democrats’ resolution to hold Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in criminal contempt of Congress:

“The Democrats are continuing their baseless attacks on the Trump Administration by trying to hold Attorney General Barr and Secretary Ross in contempt of Congress in a fishing expedition. There is no basis for these charges, other than the Democrats’ sheer desire to punish an Administration they disagree with.

“This vote comes after Democrats attempted to impeach President Trump earlier in the evening, and voted to allow Speak Pelosi to violate the rules of the House of Representatives and use derogatory language in reference to President Trump last night. This onslaught of partisan aggression is doing nothing to benefit our citizens or address any of the very real problems facing our nation. This childish behavior is what a Democrat-controlled House looks like.”
