Congressman Mike Conaway·Monday, April 22, 2019

Washington – Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released the following statement after the release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report:

“Special Counsel Mueller and his team of 19 lawyers and 40 FBI agents, analysts, and other professional staff conducted a very thorough investigation over the course of the last two years, issuing over 2,800 subpoenas and interviewing approximately 500 witnesses. Ultimately, they arrived at the same conclusion that the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election did: Russia sought to interfere in our election, and there is no evidence that any person affiliated with the Trump campaign attempted to coordinate or collude with the Russians or any other foreign actor.

“I am grateful to Special Counsel Mueller and his team for all the hard work they diligently poured into this investigation for the last two years. While Democrats may wish to continue to politicize this report and extend its news coverage indefinitely for political gain, the American people now have definitive answers to the questions at hand. It’s time to finally move forward as a nation, united against foreign interference in our political process, to tackle the many critical issues impacting the everyday lives of Americans.”
